If you’re driving around Carlow town at the moment you’ve probably seen the signs announcing the upcoming launch of the new bus service.

From July 30th Carlow town will finally get a bus service.

Fare details are as follows:

Adult €1.60

Child €0.90

There are also reduced rates for holders of a Leap card.

The service will have two routes and operate seven days a week.

The routes will be:

CW1 – MSD Carlow to Tyndall/CIFET
CW2 – Wexford Road Business Park to Barrow Valley Retail Park

Here’s a map with an overview of the two routes:

The buses will operate from around 6am until around midnight Monday to Saturday, with a slightly reduced service on Sundays.

Full details of the schedule are on the Bus Éireann site.

It’ll be interesting to see how much takeup the bus service will have. The two routes cover a pretty broad area of the town so I’d hope that adoption is strong, but until the service has been up and running for a few months it’ll be impossible to gauge.
