Carlow Bus Service Launching July 30th

If you're driving around Carlow town at the moment you've probably seen the signs announcing the upcoming launch of the new bus service. From July 30th Carlow town will finally get a bus service. Fare details are as follows: Adult €1.60 Child €0.90 There are also reduced rates for holders of a Leap card. The service will have two routes and operate seven days a week. The routes will be: CW1 – MSD Carlow to Tyndall/CIFET CW2 – Wexford Road Business Park to Barrow Valley Retail Park Here's a map with an overview of the two routes: The buses will operate from around 6am until around midnight Monday to Saturday, with a slightly reduced service on Sundays. Irish Rail Expands Carlow Service

Irish Rail's new timetable sees the addition of some extra trains on the Carlow - Dublin line. The changes are based on a public consultation. For now at least the train company cannot add later trains on the route due to a shortage of drivers. Full details here.

Free Parking Pre-Christmas in Carlow Town

There will be a number of options available for free parking around Carlow town in the weeks up to Christmas. In Carlow town there will be free parking available at: Town hall Visual Green Bank Road You will also be able to avail of fee free parking in the usual "pay and display" areas outside peak hours - from 0930 to 1200 and from 1500 to 1830. As usual there is 30 minutes of free on street parking on Tullow St, Kennedy Avenue, Dublin St, Potato Market and Castle Street.

Carlow Chamber's Business Awards are now open for nominations. Nominations are open until August 15th 2022. The awards are open to businesses based in County Carlow and are free to enter. Boil Water Notice for Carlow Town

Irish Water has issued a "boil water notice" that covers Carlow town. Earlier this week they issued a notice for parts of county Carlow, however that was extended to cover the town as well as parts of neighbouring counties yesterday. Water must be boiled for: Drinking; Drinks made with water; Preparation of salads and similar foods, which are not cooked prior to eating; Brushing of teeth; Making of ice - discard ice cubes in fridges and freezers and filtered water in fridges. Make ice from cooled boiled water. What actions should be taken: Use water prepared for drinking when preparing foods that will not be cooked (e.g. washing salads); Water can be used for personal hygiene, bathing and flushing of toilets but not for brushing teeth or gargling; Boil water by bringing to a vigorous, rolling boil (e.g. with an automatic kettle) and allow to cool. Carlow town is largely unaffected, though there are restrictions in place and uniformed Gardai are at most junctions.

Revamping Carlow.biz

I first setup Carlow.biz about 10 years ago.

It hasn't had a huge amount of "TLC" in the last couple of years, which is unfortunate.

Over the next couple of weeks I'm going to try to revamp the site a little.

First off I'll be recreating the various listing categories that existed in the old version of the site and I'll be populating them with listings.

After that.. well it all depends.. if the site starts to get a bit of interest then I might do some more with it, but I had to switch it around!
