Institute of Technology Carlow
Institute of Technology Carlow is one of the largest technology colleges in Ireland, with campuses in Carlow, Wexford and Wicklow, and part-time provision elsewhere in Ireland. It will become a founding constituent institute of Technological University for the South East in May 2022.

Irish Rail Expand Services to Carlow and Waterford
Irish Rail recently announced changes to their timetable for the winter schedule.
While they had previously acknowledged that the Dublin - Waterford route, which serves Carlow, is busy and that demand existed for later trains, they hadn't been able to address that. The new timetable goes some way to addressing the shortfall.
The last train from Dublin Heuston to Carlow (and Waterford) will now depart at 2020, while the last train in the other direction from Waterford to Dublin, will leave Waterford at 2137. It's a move in the right direction, but is still quite a bit off the kind of timetable on routes like Cork - Cobh or Cork - Midleton or Dublin to any of the commuter towns closer to the city.

Carlow Bus Service Launching July 30th
If you're driving around Carlow town at the moment you've probably seen the signs announcing the upcoming launch of the new bus service.
From July 30th Carlow town will finally get a bus service.
Fare details are as follows:
Adult €1.60
Child €0.90
There are also reduced rates for holders of a Leap card.
The service will have two routes and operate seven days a week.
The routes will be:
CW1 – MSD Carlow to Tyndall/CIFET
CW2 – Wexford Road Business Park to Barrow Valley Retail Park

The buses will operate from around 6am until around midnight Monday to Saturday, with a slightly reduced service on Sundays.

It'll be interesting to see how much takeup the bus service will have. The two routes cover a pretty broad area of the town so I'd hope that adoption is strong, but until the service has been up and running for a few months it'll…

Irish Rail Expands Carlow Service
Irish Rail's new timetable sees the addition of some extra trains on the Carlow - Dublin line.
The changes are based on a public consultation. For now at least the train company cannot add later trains on the route due to a shortage of drivers.
